The vineyard

Our vineyard with 9 hectares (22,24 acres) is nestled in the hills of Odelouca River Valley (Silves). This is the ideal soil (on south facing slopes) where the red varieties of vine, Trincadeira (tinta amarela), Aragonês (tempranillo), Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah were planted in 2002, and white Sauvignon blanc grafted in 2017.

The vineyard is distributed in two different soils:

- South facing slopes and terraces with Schist soils, where we have the 5 red varieties planted;

- Alluvium soil, very close to the Odelouca River with Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon blanc.

The hot and dry Algarvian climate, can over stress the vines, but fanned by the cool Atlantic sea breezes coming from the South, do reduce the over ripening process. On the other hand the poor schist, clay soil, that limits the water intake, can create just enough stress to concentrate the grapes, thus producing the remarkable wine from this vineyard.

Those reasons along with extreme care on selecting and handling our precious grapes enables us to produce medal winning wines, from the vine to the bottle.
