Born in France of an Italian Piedmontese family with a tradition in wine making, Patrick Agostini became a pathologist.

At the age of 33, he and his Portuguese wife, Fátima, decided to leave France and move to Portugal. There he found the right property to enable him to follow his passion for making great wine.

He chose a plot of land in the Odelouca River Valley in the Algarve. Its south facing slopes and schist soils together with the water from the river nearby would create an ideal "terroir" and give perfect conditions for Patrick's red vines, Trincadeira, (Tinta Amarela), Aragonês (Tinta Roriz), Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah for producing great wines.

In 2002 the vines were planted and the irrigation system installed. The vineyard was finally ready for production in 2008. Patrick was now ready to face the challenge of getting the Algarve into the world wine map.

Patrick produces a top quality wine "Quinta do Francês", and the second wine, "Odelouca". Both wines have been very successful, winning medals at prestigious international fairs such as Brussels and London and attracting very favourable reviews in both the national and international press.
